Instant messaging (IM) is a form of communication over the internet or through the phone that offers an transmission of text messages from sender to receiver. It's between two or more people using personal computers or other devices such as mobile phones, instant messaging basically offers real-time direct written language-based online chat. It's a fast moving world and everyone is moving with this world so instant messaging is one of kind. More advanced instant messaging such as live voice or voice calling, video calling.

The instant messaging helps in lot more ways like studies, students discusses things over mobiles, web browser etc. For example like in your college we have slate to discusses things on we can have live chat with any of the students who's available which has made everything lot more easier.

MOBILE INSTANT MESSAGING
Mobile instant messaging is also called MIM it's a technology that gives us the services of instant messaging from your portable devices from a ordinary phone to smartphones. For example Android, BlackBerry, IPhone and Window Phones.
WEB BROWSER
Gmail introduced instant messaging on it's webpage which means that we did'nt had to install the messenger. Later, yahoo and hotmail also introduced the same thing which was so much easier and there was no more hassle to download messenger.
FRIEND TO FRIEND NETWORK
instant messaging may be done in a friend to friend network, in this friends get connected to each other in friend list. This make network with friends of friends and for the building of chatrooms for instant messages with all friends on that network.
IM LANGUAGE
It is also called as SMS language it is use for quicker conversation such as LOL is one of the famous one and emotions are often expressed in shorthand too for fast and quick conversation.
